Since the start of the Premier League era, there have only been two clubs who have been consistently near the top of the league table: Manchester United and Arsenal. And Monday, the 13th of December 2010, will see those two clubs clash once more.
Since the construction of their new 60,000-seat stadium, Arsenal have pursued a youth development policy, while Manchester United have continued to pick up winners' medal and trophies. The emergence of Chelsea, and now Manchester City, have diversified the top of the table, and have lessened the intensity of this match in recent years. But with Arsenal and Manchester United first and second in the table respectively, this fixture will prove to be more important than it has been in years.
Recent Form
Arsenal have won their last four games, dispatching Aston Villa, Wigan, Fulham, and Partizan Belgrade, and have begun to pick up steam after two consecutive losses to bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur as well as Portuguese Champions League contestants Braga. But with four losses in the league already, including three at home to West Bromwich Albion, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal will be somewhat surprised to find themselves top of the table.
